Setup wizard: Name your first app
Step 2 of the onboarding wizard — create your first application.
What is an application?
An application represents a distinct product or service on the TenancyEngine platform. Each application has its own environments, tenants, feature flags, offerings, and billing configuration.
Fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| App name | Display name shown in the console and to tenants. |
| Slug | URL-safe identifier (e.g., my-app). Must be unique within your organization. Auto-generated from the name; editable. |
| Category | Helps classify the app — carries through to plan and reporting labels. |
The slug field is validated in real time — a green checkmark confirms availability.
After this step
Your app is created immediately. The next steps configure your team (Step 3), billing (Step 4), and your first offering (Step 5).
You can return to Applications from the sidebar at any time to add more apps or configure this one further.
